Support Rendle Family Fight Against Brain Cancer

My name is Damien, I am a lifelong friend of John Rendle, we met at playgroup when we were 3 years old and have been friends ever since.

Last June John suffered a sudden and violent seizure whilst sleeping. He was rushed to hospital and eventually after months of scans and investigations John was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma grade 3 brain tumour aged just 39. Unfortunately due to the way it has developed on the brain much of the tumour is inoperable.

John and his wife Michelle have two young children Ollie aged 5 and Emilia aged 3 both children know their Daddy is unwell. They have been looking after him with lots of love during an incredibly tough period which has seen John undergo three major surgeries.

Last December after returning home from his major brain surgery John had to be rushed back to hospital 10 days later with a head leak and subsequently had further brain surgery on Christmas Day and not returning home until after the new year.

This all in itself is heartbreaking but unfortunately for John and his family things have taken a further turn for the worse.

The life insurance and critical health cover that John and his family had taken out before John fell ill has been revoked. John and his family have made a complaint to the insurer and are seeking legal advice they are facing an uphill battle to receive anything from the insurer. This leaves John's family facing huge financial uncertainty as his cancer progresses. Adding to all of this John's and Michelle's house has major structural issues which has seen huge cracks appear over the past 24 months. They are involved in a long running insurance dispute that is seeing the insurer fail to cover the cost of the works needed to make the house a suitable place to bring up young children.

John has just finished his first course of radiotherapy and is starting chemotherapy. Throughout all this ordeal he has remained upbeat and been the brilliant Dad to his kids he always is. As his friend I would say he has been truly stoic in the face of relentless misfortune.

John will keep fighting cancer all the way however him and his family need support in this time.

I am setting up this GoFund me page in the hope that people can come together to help John and his family with creating special memories the kids can cherish forever and restoring their house to a liveable condition and generally easing the huge financial burden they are now facing due to the callous and unfair practices of their insurance companies.

John and his family do not know how much time they have left together. As John's friend I deeply hope that the community of people who have met John and Michelle and even people their do not know personally can come together to help them create beautiful memories for their children and together we can make an uncertain and scary future a bit less difficult for them to navigate.

Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments for his cancer John has taken part in charity fundraising walks raising over £5000 and collectively raised over £5000 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
