Help Bring Resilience to Burning Man!
"Resilience isn’t just about surviving the storm—it’s about what you create from the wreckage."

I am honored to bring Resilience to Burning Man 2025 as an official Black Rock City Honoraria art installation, but I need your help to make it happen!

What is Resilience?
Resilience is an immersive art installation and storm shelter built from salvaged materials, including a barn roof torn apart by Hurricane Helene and artworks damaged or lost in the storm. This piece is both a monument to survival and a gallery showcasing Western North Carolina artists whose work was impacted by disaster.

Every single artist involved in this project lost something in the storm. Some lost entire bodies of work—years of creation washed away overnight. Others lost studios, homes, and the sense of stability that allows art to flourish. I, as the lead artist, lost nearly everything. But in the ashes of loss, we found a way to build something new—together.

And we didn’t do it alone. When the storm hit Asheville, it was Burners who led the recovery efforts—using the same skills, infrastructure, and community principles we’ve honed at burns for years. The systems we’ve built for survival in the desert became survival systems for our city. We fed people, cleared roads, rebuilt spaces, and showed up for each other in ways that proved what we’ve always known: the Burner ethos isn’t just for the playa. It’s how we take care of each other, no matter where we are.

Inside Resilience, the space will display art that has been recovered, restored (or not), or created in response to the storm—honoring the power of community, storytelling, and the enduring spirit of creativity in the face of destruction.

Burning Man has generously provided partial funding, but this project relies on community support to cover the remaining costs.

Why Do We Need Funding?
While I’ve received an Honoraria grant, it only covers a portion of the costs needed to build, transport, and bring this vision to life. Your support will go directly toward:

✅ Materials & Construction – Turning salvaged storm debris into a beautiful, meaningful installation
✅ Artist Compensation – Supporting artists by covering the lost value of works displayed
✅ Transportation & Logistics – Getting Resilience from Asheville, NC, to the Nevada desert
✅ On-Site Build Costs – Tools, safety gear, and structural reinforcements for the harsh playa environment

How You Can Help
Every donation—big or small—helps bring Resilience to life. If we reach our goal, each artist displaying their work in the gallery will be compensated for the full retail value of a piece lost in the storm.

Donate now to help us build something beautiful from the wreckage.
Share this campaign to spread the word and support the artists who lost so much.

This piece isn’t just about remembering what we lost—it’s about showing the world what we can build in its place. It’s a testament to the Burning Man community’s role in disaster relief, the strength of our artists, and the unbreakable power of resilience.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
