Support Rhys Benoit in His Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer

At just 40 years old, Rhys Benoit has been diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer, a devastating illness that has completely upended his life. Rhys was recently accepted into the BC Cancer Care Palliative Care Program, which is focused on providing comfort and dignity during the time he has left.

For those who know Rhys, you’ll understand what a remarkable individual he is. A self-reliant and hard-working man, Rhys moved to Vancouver Island 18 years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a master carpenter. Starting with just his drive and determination, he worked with premier builders in the Victoria area before founding Cardinal Custom Carpentry, a company now known for crafting some of the most prestigious homes on Vancouver Island.

Rhys poured his heart and soul into his company—investing in his team, tools, and the resources needed to grow. He credits much of the success to his team, but those who know the story understand his unwavering leadership and work ethic were the foundation. However, building this dream left no room for a safety net to face an illness as devastating as pancreatic cancer.

Why We’re Asking for Your Help

This campaign has been established to ensure Rhys’ legacy and provide security for his partner, Ev, and their four beloved dogs: Roscoe, Walter, TieDye, and Shreddies. Ev and their furry family live in the beautiful home Rhys built for them in Metchosin—a home filled with love, laughter, and the craftsmanship that reflects Rhys’ talent and dedication.

We are starting this GoFundMe campaign to help offset the unanticipated costs that cancer presents. Specifically, funds will be directed toward:

• Covering immediate financial challenges due to Rhys being unable to work.

• Supporting Ev with day-to-day living expenses, veterinary care for the dogs, and home maintenance.

• Completing the exterior cladding and decking of the home Rhys lovingly built for Ev and their dogs.

Every dollar raised will go toward giving Rhys peace of mind that his family—human and canine—will be cared for as he faces these last weeks of this fight.
