Support Richard Conti's Recovery from the Palisades Fire

My name is Andrew Halff, and our group of friends and family are reaching out with a heavy heart, seeking your support for our dear friend Richard Conti. Like many of us, Richard was born and raised in the Pacific Palisades, and, like many of us, his life has been turned upside-down by this horrible catastrophe.

For the past few years, Richard has been living in his grandmother's converted ADU in the Palisades—a home she purchased in the early 1970s. He has worked as a camera assistant with Local 600, but the challenges brought on by COVID-19, industry strikes, and production slowdowns have left his finances stretched thin.

When the fires struck, Richard evacuated with his mother and grandmother, who, at 100 years of age, requires a large oxygen tank and a full-time caretaker. Since then, he has been bouncing between various relatives' homes, trying to stick together with his family during this difficult time.

Tragically, Richard's grandmother's entire home and ADU, along with all of their possessions, were lost in the fire. Among what was lost were all of his camera gear, handyman tools, and music equipment. He, like most of us, never thought that any wildfire would reach them on the last block of the Alphabet Streets.

We are asking for your assistance to help Richard get back on his feet.

Richard wanted to share that on a positive note, before evacuating, he managed to grab his mother’s classical guitar—the one she bought at Palisades Music Shop in 1970. It’s the only possession that he has left that will always remind him of his mother and the original town of the Palisades that is now seemingly lost.
