Support Rich in His Battle Against Myxoid Liposarcoma

Hello friends, family, and kindhearted strangers,

We are reaching out to share Rich's journey and ask for your support as he battles a rare and challenging diagnosis of High-Grade Myxoid Liposarcoma, a type of cancer that forms in the soft tissue and that is diagnosed in roughly 2,000 people per year. While this news has been incredibly difficult, we are grateful to share that the cancer has not spread!

Rich is an amazing, helpful person who did not deserve this devastating diagnosis. He is the best Papa my kiddos could ever ask for and he would do anything for his grandkids. They need his Papa!

Rich's road to recovery includes:

The Treatment Plan:
Radiation treatment over the next 4 weeks. The goal is to "kill" the tumor internally, as sarcomas don’t shrink but instead die off. After this, he will undergo an MRI to evaluate progress.

Surgery to remove the tumor. This will likely require 2 or 3 surgeries due to the location of the mass, where the skin is thin and infections are a common risk. The doctor will clean out the surgical site as needed to ensure proper healing.

During surgery, the doctor is optimistic about avoiding damage to nearby nerves and blood vessels, but there’s a possibility that more aggressive measures may be needed depending on what is found. Unfortunately if this is the case, there may be ongoing nerve damage in Rich's arm causing his arm to lack regular functioning.

Ongoing MRIs for the rest of his life, with more frequent scans during the first 5 years to monitor for recurrence. There’s a 10% chance it could return to the original site and a 20% chance of it appearing elsewhere.

The Challenges
While we are blessed that chemotherapy is not needed (it’s ineffective against this type of cancer), radiation has left Rich exhausted, with aches and pains setting in. After radiation, he will need treatment for degenerative disc disease, which has been causing significant back pain. This will include nerve-burning procedures to help manage the discomfort.

The Good News
Despite the tough road ahead, there are reasons to remain hopeful:
The cancer has not spread!
Rich’s medical team is optimistic about successfully removing the tumor.
With your positive energy and prayers, we believe Rich can beat this!

How You Can Help
The emotional, physical, and financial toll of this journey is significant. Between medical bills, time off work, and the costs of ongoing care, we’re asking for your help to ease this burden. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and allow Rich to focus on his fight without the added stress of financial strain.

Your support means the world to us. Whether it’s a donation, a kind word, or simply sharing this post, you’re helping Rich take one step closer to recovery. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey with us.

We will keep you updated as Rich progresses through treatment and recovery. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and positivity. Together, we believe he will come out stronger than ever.

With gratitude,
The Battle Crew
