Hello! My name is Ricky Day.
The world keeps changing whether we like it or not. Sometimes it changes for the better, and sometimes it changes for what we perceive as worse. One thing is certain though, for each of us to survive and have a chance at thriving we must always evolve as people.
I am a human being committed to evolution, to growth, to developing my gifts and to using those gifts to serve other human beings. This is why I am going back to school to further develop my skills as a storyteller, photographer and artist so that I may better employ those skills in service to humankind.
I have been accepted into the respected and in many ways prestigious One-year Certificate in Creative Practices program at the International Center of Photography in NY. The program is rigorous, engaging and critical for my development as an artist and servant to the causes of justice, freedom and LOVE.
Unfortunately, the program is also expensive and is not a program for which one can receive federal government backed grants and such. As a result, I am left with the task of paying for all of it out of my blue collar pockets. I have saved, I am working extra hours, I am committed to doing as much of this on my own as possible. However, once the program begins it will be literally impossible to work full time as a result of the rigor of the program itself. So I must provide not only for tuition, but also for my living expenses and survival in the incredibly expensive city of NY all while not being allowed to work full time.
I have already managed to raised $15,000 towards the over $37,000+ in tuition and additional materials fees via my being awarded a Director's Fellowship from the school. The funds raised will be used towards tuition, materials and other school fees.
This is important to me because these new skills should help to elevate my career and allow me to be a productive member of society into old age and provide a myriad of new ways for me to use my gifts to serve others, to inspire change and to literally make a difference in the world. I believe contributing may be important to you because you will be contributing to good in the world and adding your voice to mine so that we may sing the song of freedom, justice for all and love of self AND humankind together.
It took A LOT OF VULNERABILITY to make this ask and courage to set my ego aside and admit I cannot do this alone. Will you please lend a helping hand?
