Support Rico's Recovery from Guillain-Barre Syndrome

- As I've recently shared with some of you, the comedian himself who loves to make everyone laugh, is in a bad way. A guy who never meets a stranger, a man who gets up and goes to work every day since in 1989, is in the hospital being treated for Guillain-Barre syndrome. This syndrome causes the body's immune system to attack the nerves. This causes numbness, weakness, or paralysis. Most people recover, and I'm confident that he will; however, he has a long road ahead.
On Tuesday, Aug 20th, Rico had a headache that carried over for several days. By Wednesday, he was experiencing tingling in his hands & feet. On Thursday, he still had a migraine, high blood pressure, and nausea, so I took him to the ER. On Friday, he was having trouble walking. By Saturday, he was experiencing paralysis in his lower legs & hands/arms. By Sunday, he was in the ICU, unable to walk or breathe easily without oxygen. He remains in the ICU as of today, the 30th. Rico is showing less improvement. He's unable to lift his hands or arms, he can't feed himself nor can he sit up on his own. He is getting blood treatments every other day that filter out the bad antibodies. We'd hoped to see improvement by now, but we have not. He is slightly delusional due to lack of sleep and from being bedridden. I tell myself every day, tomorrow will be a better day.
We know the out-of-pocket medical expenses are going to be more than we could have prepared for, that's why are reaching out for help. There is a loss of work for both of us and that is a huge concern. After all the tests, scans, and length of stay in the hospital, he will need to go to a physical therapy facility after his release. How do we get through? We are reaching out, not something we are used to doing but it is what it is.
We haven't slept apart this many nights in 20+ years. He is mentally & physically exhausted. I've been at the hospital from morning until dark. It's overwhelming and exhausting, but we will get through this.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words and encouragement. To those that are praying for Rico, he genuinely appreciates it.
Please share.
