Support Rikkii Blair's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Rikkii Blair was involved in a life altering motorcycle accident on the 17th of Sept. As he was on his way home from work, someone ran a stop sign and his life was forever altered.
After arriving at Memorial Medical Center via life flight, the hospital staff discovered he sustained countless fractures and broken bones, mostly involving his face, neck and arms, he also suffered a subdural hematoma, or a TBI (traumatic brain injury)
It was decided to proceed with surgery on his arms, face and jaw, but to let his neck and head heal on its own. With this being the plan, the hospital staff wanting to follow, he was intubated and sedated for over 5 weeks.
During this time, his neck and brain healed on their own, the medical staff and medicine allowing his body to heal itself to the best and fullest extent. He was extubated and a tracheotomy was placed.
While friends and family visited Rikkii countless times a day during the 5 weeks, everything was left to be decided on when his body was going to be able to be weaned off sedation.
On Oct 24th, the hospital staff found the "sweet spot" with his medication, and he was finally awake, although not quite alert.
Over the course of the next couple days, he became more alert, was weaned off of more medication and started to become more aware.
On the week of Nov. 4th, talk began to start about him being released but the tracheotomy needed to be removed, and his jaw needed to be unwired, both happened on Nov. 5th and he was FINALLY released on Nov. 6th.
What he is facing now is a new set of challenges, as he is unable to work until he is fully recovered, and there in lies our concerns.
We are unaware of just how long that will take, but life still needs to go on. Our concerns are being able to provide Rikkii with enough financial support so they he can focus on recovering, and getting back to the life he knew before.
At this point, any sort of donation that can be provided would make a huge difference. If a donation can not be made, please share this far and wide, and we want to thank you for taking time to read this and offer support.
Donations can be through GoFundMe, or sent directly to his CashApp Account.
If wanting to donate directly, please contact Vanna Wilburn at the number provided.
