Support River Cleanup Efforts by ASU and Lees-McRae Flyclub
Donation protected
On behalf of Appalachian State and Lees-McRae Fly Fishing Clubs, we pride ourselves on conservation of the environment, wildlife, and fisheries that we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by here in the North Carolina mountains.
Recently, Hurricane Helene made landfall in the panhandle of Florida, bringing torrential rainfall and heavy winds to the already saturated North Carolina mountains. While many knew the rain was coming, no one could've predicted the severity of this extreme weather event. Our creeks, streams, and rivers took the brunt of the abundance of water, bringing with it devastation to the surrounding areas. Erosion, landslides, fallen trees, and sadly, people's homes litter the surrounding banks, making river cleanup a priority moving forward, now more than ever.
While Western North Carolina was blessed with support of resources from surrounding areas, the abundance of single-use plastics in the area will inevitably end up in our waters. Appalachian State and Lees-McRae Fly Fishing Clubs would benefit greatly from generous donations to be able to provide our volunteers with cleanup essentials such as waders, gloves, trash grabbers, waste bins, bags, and PPE in order to begin cleanup efforts. Follow us on Instagram @AppstateFlyFishingClub and @LmcFlyFishing to keep up to date with our river cleanup efforts. Thanks for all the support!
