Support River's Fight Against Primary HLH
Donation protected
Our son River was born healthy, happy and normal on March 30, 2024. On May 24th we took him to the pediatrician because he was feeling under the weather. We were informed he had a fever of 103.5 and were immediately sent to All Children’s Hospital. When we arrived they drew labs and he was treated for sepsis and acute liver failure. He tested positive for Rhinovirus along with Enterovirus.
He has been on several antibiotics, steroids, and other medications to help his little body fight while the doctors puzzled over his symptoms.
River has had a bone marrow aspiration, lumbar puncture/spinal tap and a brain MRI, along with multiple blood, platelet and plasma transfusions. He has been on continuous fluid IV’s and PICC line. After several weeks of testing he was finally diagnosed with Primary HLH, a very rare genetic immune deficiency disorder. He will need a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy to survive. I’ve had him in my arms since the moment he was admitted. I’ve been sleeping in a chair, only putting him down for required testing. This has given Jonathan, River’s dad, the task of being a full time dad to our young daughter and making it difficult to work just to make ends meet. Our family is down to one income and beginning to struggle with expenses. Any donation is greatly appreciated by our family.
