Support Robert Hanson's Fight Against Leukemia (AML)
Donation protected
My name is Christina (Teeny) and my family, Marybeth, Jacklyn, Maria (not pictured because she took the photo above) and I are raising funds for my father Robert Hanson who is battling stage 4 AML - Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He requires a 24/7 nurse in-home with a nutrition and saline IV in addition to bi-weekly blood transfusions that require special doctors visits and multiple night stays in the hospital, along with a very specific diet and medications. He is not aware we have started this fund, because he is always the helper, and not the one asking for help, but we need it desperately.
Prior to his diagnosis he was very confused and forgetful, which is the nature of AML’s progressively severe oxygen depletion to the brain over time. This lead to unpaid medical insurance coverage bills. Dad was dropped from insurance coverage just weeks prior to his emergency room visit with 2 types of E. Coli which led to the discovery of the Leukemia.
My dad, Robert was diagnosed with AML on Valentine’s Day, February 14th of 2024 and began receiving emergency blood transfusions and medication. We never saw this coming. My father is the strongest fighter I’ve ever seen staying positive each day with the full belief “we will play the cards we’re dealt and WE WILL BEAT THIS!”
May 1st my dad celebrated his 66th birthday in the hospital receiving blood transfusions, which was a 3 day stay. He is in positive spirits, thanking God everyday for each hour he spends with my family. We are absolutely heartbroken that he is facing this aggressive disease and never could have foreseen such an active, healthy, and incredible person such as my wonderful dad receives this diagnoses.
This time is unbelievably hard for my father, he is an avid gardener, an Olympic World Games competitor, he volunteered as an Usher for over 20 years every Sunday at church and was the assistant coach for all of our soccer teams. He truly sees the absolute best in every person, and has taught us that it is important to help people, whether friends or strangers, as much as we possibly can everyday. “You never know what someone could be facing in their life, and your kindness, no matter how small, could change their day big time”. We could not ask for a better role model, a better dad, a better husband, a better brother, or a better friend. He can put a smile on anyone’s face, even when he feels as sick as he does now, he brings light and love into every moment in his presence.
During these times he is stressed about the financial burden that this aggressive and unforeseen cancer has brought onto our family. While he is not aware of this fundraiser, we are continuing to let him know “we’ve got this covered Robby, don’t sweat it, just focus on healing and our future together”. Despite the extreme financial costs, we are doing whatever we can so Robert (the raddest dad ever!) receives the best care at all times ❤️
Every day, every hour we say together “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
Thank you all for your prayers, your support, the kind words and thoughts. Please continue to pray for peace, pray God to work through us, the nurses, doctors, and Robert. Pray for comfort, pray he feels all the love that surrounds him, pray he feels the hands of God on him in every moment.
thank you ❤️
we will continue to post daily updates here
