Dave Sweetapple passed away suddenly on August 8, 2024, at the age of 58, leaving behind an enormous void in the lives of all who knew him.

He was a beloved figure in countless music communities, playing a vital role in record labels like (Mag Wheel, Wabana, Outer Battery, and Tee Pee), as well as his distribution company Surefire, and the bands he performed with, including (Witch, Sweet Apple, Vardlokk, and Heavy Blanket). Beyond his musical legacy, Dave had a profound love for Land Rovers and became a cornerstone of the northeast Rover community. His loss resonates deeply, from the countless close friends he cherished (and Dave had more close friends than anyone I’ve ever known) to the many bands he connected with through his infectious personality and generous spirit. For some, losing Dave feels like losing a family member.

This brings me to the painful reason for these words. The loss is immeasurable for so many, but it’s truly devastating for his wife, Robin Sweetapple, his partner of thirty-two years. Robin and Dave were inseparable, sharing everything in life—a bond that was equal parts love and joy. The shock of Dave’s sudden passing is incomprehensible, especially for Robin. She now faces not only the heartbreaking task of navigating life without her soulmate but also the heavy burden of financial challenges, including mortgage payments, without Dave’s income.
