Support Robin's Battle Against Liver Cancer

Hi, my name is John Penwarden.

Today, 02/17/2025, my wife Robin got yet again another cancer diagnosis. After losing her kidney to cancer just a few years ago, having surgery at the end of January for tumors in her bladder, she has now been diagnosed with liver cancer.

We honestly don't know what to expect in the future, except for one thing:

It will cost money.

The average cost of Y90 is between 25K and 40K or more.

We are both on a fixed disability income.

Even with our medical coverage, we are not going to be able to afford what the future has in store. There was mention of Y90 treatments that she will have to go through protocol for. Some type of burst radiation treatment, liver mapping and preparation, and a one-day surgery if she qualifies. This would actually offer a possible cure versus chemo or immunotherapy.

Robin has asked me to start and moderate this donation page on GoFundMe for her. The funds will go straight into her bank account and remain there until needed. I know the GoFundMe page several years back when this started truly helped us make it through.

Robin has had a rough go of it these past few years. A 14-year V.A. Hospice Nurse, she got COVID, got pneumonia, returned to work 2 weeks later, and had a stroke at work just 3 days back. Recovering from the stroke and finishing P.T., she was then told at the end of June she had kidney cancer. She had her right kidney removed and was cancer-free for about 2 years until Christmas. Then, she found 2 tumors in her bladder in late November of last year, which were surgically removed in January. She was told they were non-aggressive and superficial. A C.T. follow-up on her liver 3 weeks later revealed that today, 02/17/2025, she has liver cancer. Y90 treatment is the first option.

Not wanting to see Robin go without or suffer if she absolutely doesn't have to. I know she offered many a veteran in hospice as much comfort as possible. My prayer is to be able to do at least that for her.
