Support Roland Sagum's Stroke Recovery Journey

Aloha friends & ʻohana,

On Monday, 12/23, our dad (Roland Sagum) suffered a devastating stroke that has completely changed his life—& ours—overnight. While we’re incredibly grateful that he’s still with us, his recovery will require intensive therapy & specialized care to give him the best chance at regaining his strength & independence.

Our dad is the heart of our family—a man whose love, hard work, & wisdom have shaped who we are today. Many of you know him for his generosity & willingness to always lend a helping hand. He’s always been there for us, & now it’s our turn to be there for him.

After much thought & consideration, we’ve decided the best path forward is to send him to an inpatient rehab facility on Oahu, where he’ll receive the therapy & care he needs to recover. Once he’s discharged, we’ll need to temporarily relocate him to Oahu so he can continue therapy while we work on renovating his home on Kaua'i to better accommodate his needs.

This journey will be a challenging one, & we can’t do it alone. The costs of treatment, temporary housing, & ongoing therapy are significant, so we’re reaching out for your kōkua.
