Please join me in bringing hope to seriously ill children and their families staying at Ronald McDonald House of Seattle.
Hi everyone! My name is Emma, and I am a 12-year-old girl from Bellevue, WA. I have been receiving care from Seattle Children’s Hospital since I was a baby. Being born breach and tall sometimes doesn’t do great things to your body. Because of how often I would have to visit Seattle Children’s, I saw so many sick kids with conditions such as cerebral palsy, severe craniofacial issues, and many kids going through chemotherapy. These kids have lost their hair, some of them can’t walk, they look pale, and it’s obvious that they’re having a rough time. Through one of my providers, I found out about the Ronald McDonald House and how they house children and their families undergoing life-saving treatment. I visited the house and got to talk to one of the managers, and as I heard about all the things that they do, I was just blown away by it all. This house opens doors for children and their families so that, even if they live far away or they can’t afford accommodation, they can still get the best treatment possible.
What does Ronald McDonald House do?
Imagine having a critically ill child. Now imagine having to deal with the stress and expense of finding accommodation, meals, and transportation on top of caring for and worrying about your child.
The mission of Ronald McDonald House is to alleviate this logistical and financial stress so parents can focus on their child’s health. The Seattle Ronald McDonald House provides a free, comfortable place to stay for families of seriously ill children receiving life-saving treatment from Seattle Children’s Hospital. The House is less than half a mile away and provides a room, food, amenities, entertainment, and daily essentials free of charge. In 2021, the Ronald McDonald House of Seattle served 330 families, who averaged a length of 63 days of stay, for a total of 21,411 nights provided.
How can we make a difference?
Well, that’s where you come in. I learned from the managers that the House is faced with rising operational costs due to inflation. They also recently expanded to help more patients in the region. 61% of Ronald McDonald House's funding comes from donors like you. Your donation will go primarily toward providing nutritious meals for the kids and their families. Any amount helps. Please consider making a donation to give hope to the families and children who rely on Ronald McDonald House of Seattle.
Thank you so much for your support!
