Support Rosalee After Govt Mass Firing Before MaternityLeave
Our dear friend and mother-to-be, Rosalee Reese, was terminated, effective immediately, from her job as a dedicated federal employee for the U.S. Forest Service just two months before her due date. The loss of her job is devastating. Rosalee has not only lost a stable income, she has also lost maternity leave, health insurance, and other benefits.
For the past 15 years, Rosalee has worked tirelessly to get to where she was in her career. Excelling as a student, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. She dedicated her time to seasonal and temporary jobs to gain valuable experience in order to reach her dream of building a career as a steward for our public lands and natural resources. Rosalee and Kirk have waited and planned for years to be in a stable enough situation to start a family, which unfortunately has been dismantled by the loss of her position with the Forest Service.
Rosalee has years of prior federal service but her probationary status for this particular position was set to end in July 2025. Instead, she was laid off just 2 months before giving birth. We are asking for community support in easing financial burdens that will accrue in the coming months in order for Kirk and Rosalee to focus on welcoming their sweet baby.
As part of Kirk and Rosalee’s San Luis Valley family, we appreciate any monetary support possible.
With our deepest gratitude and love,
Andrea, Blaise, Christine, Julia, Lauren, Liz, Katie P., and Katie W.
