Support Revere Street: Rose Gendelman's Short Film

Hi there! I’m Rose Gendelman and I am the writer and director of the short film, Revere Street. The film is inspired by my Mom’s upbringing as one of eight kids in an Irish Catholic family in Northeast Philadelphia. It's a family comedy about the first born grandchild’s christening party and how, despite the best efforts of their Mom to make the day perfect, the kids manage to destroy the sanctity of the event (and their mom’s peace of mind).

At every holiday growing up, my aunts and uncles would end up telling stories about growing up on Revere Street. And man, do they have some stories to tell. I've worked hard to incorporate bits and pieces of all the tales I've listened to over the years, and sprinkled in my own creative liberties to bring this script and story to life.

I have wonderful and passionate producers supporting me on this project. My childhood best friend, Saoirse Hahn (Ailey, Gospel, Making Black America, Free Money), who will also co-direct with me. And my long time co-worker, Asha-Kai Grant (Saturday Night Live, That Damn Michael Che).

For this project, the funds will be used for several things. First, set design. The film takes place in the 1980s in a home that had been lived in for 20+ years. We will need to purchase old furniture, a 1980s TV, temporary wallpaper, wardrobe, trinkets, and decals to recreate the 1980s kitchen and living room look. We plan to thrift most if not all of this. Second, we are paying our crew of five and renting equipment (lenses, camera, lighting), as well as feed and house our cast and crew. Finally, we are renting an Airbnb location to shoot in for three days. Paying our crew equitably is incredibly important to us, and will be made possible by your donations.

This project is deeply special to me as it is the story of the family I came from, one that I feel passionately about preserving through this film. I hope you will consider donating.
