Support Rosemarie's Battle Against Cervical Cancer

Donation protected
Hi my name is Glenn, and my mom was recently diagnosed with endocervical adenocarcinoma on July 25, 2024. She was admitted to Inova Hospital in Fairfax, VA, the week prior after experiencing severe abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding.

I'm currently in North Carolina, and my brother travels frequently for work. Thankfully, my cousin Nikka is local to Rosemarie and can help take her to and from appointments.

Diagnosis
For the past year, my mom's condition has worsened over time. Despite managing the pain at home, it became unbearable, leading us to seek emergency medical care. After a series of tests, including ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs, and a biopsy, the doctors confirmed that she has endocervical adenocarcinoma, a type of cervical cancer.

The medical team discovered a 3.4–4 cm mass in her cervix and a 6 cm ovarian cyst. While the diagnosis was a shock to our family, we are determined to fight this battle together and provide Rosemarie with the best possible care.

To determine the extent of the cancer and whether it has spread, Rosemarie needs further imaging and laboratory tests. Depending on the results, her treatment plan might involve chemotherapy to reduce the tumor before surgery to remove it. If the cancer is localized to the uterus, a hysterectomy may be necessary.

Why We Need Your Help

Rosemarie does not have health insurance, and the medical expenses for her diagnosis and treatment are overwhelming. As her son, I want to do everything I can to support her, but I need your help. Your donations will go directly towards covering her medical bills, including:

• Diagnostic tests (MRIs, CT scans, lab work)
• Chemotherapy treatments
• Surgical procedures
• Follow-up care and medications

How the funds will be used

The visits with Mid Atlantic Gynecologist Oncologist, Dr. John Elkas, cost $600 per visit. We predict that she will need to see him at least 5-6 times.

Thankfully, he's also the surgeon that will operate on my mom. The office manager quoted us at $6000 for her surgery alone. I am not sure how much everything else that goes with it. She might have to stay overnight at the hospital.

Before the surgery, they will need to do a PET scan. My cousin who is undergoing cancer treatment said that they quoted him $5000.

We're looking at $20,000+ in medical fees before her Chemotherapy Treatment. They can go between $1200+ per visit for 8 or 12 visits.

$600 per visit x 6 = $3600
Surgery = $6000
Pet Scan = $5000
Nikka's Transportation $500/month
Her monthly expenses $2500/month (food/phone/rent/utilities)
Additional hospital costs $5000

These are very conservative numbers which can total to possibly $30,000-$40,000.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.

With gratitude,
