Support Rose's Fight Against Rare Cancer

Donation protected
Rose is an amazing mother to her larger-than-life 11-year-old daughter and a phenomenal wife of 19 years to her husband.

In March of 2018, our world was turned upside down when it was discovered that Rose had a rare form of cancer, and was rushed to surgery to remove an 18 pound tumor. During this surgery, her spleen and one of her kidneys was removed because the tumors had taken over her abdominal and pelvic area.

Since this surgery, we have learned much about the cancer she has been battling. It is dedifferentiated liposarcoma, and it does not let up. It is extremely rare, and there is no concrete treatment, chemo or radiation that will help. We do know, however, that multiple surgeries have been, and will be needed.

In September of 2020, Rose had her second surgery to remove seven tumors that had regrown. Part of her pancreas, her appendix and portions of her intestines had to be removed due to the invasion of her tumors.

In September of 2022, Rose had her third surgery to remove twelve tumors. This time, the tumors were widespread and, thankfully, no additional organs were removed, but her one remaining kidney took a beating.

The tumors have been so invasive but through it all, her strength and resilience continue to shine.

Now, we find ourselves facing yet another surgery - May 30, 2024. Like the previous surgeries, Rose will be cut open from her chest down to her pelvis. The tumors continue to hit the same general area, and there is a chance that a portion of her liver may need to be removed.

Between each surgery, Rose chose to test several chemo and radiation options. Our family, has endured seven different chemotherapy drugs, each taking their toll on her body. None, unfortunately, had a positive result.

While our faith and hope remain strong, we know that we need help as we start to explore experimental options, which medical insurance will not cover. Electing to stop putting poisonous chemo into her body, we are going to try a treatment program that is designed to stimulate her immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. It is our hope that through a combination of natural, non-invasive, effective therapies, we can prolong the time between future surgeries or possibly avoid another surgery entirely. Additionally, we want to send her tumors for additional experimental testing, allowing doctors to test other chemo drugs directly on the tumor, as opposed to putting more poison in her body.

In Isaiah 43:16, it reads, “I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea.” Although the Lord did not completely remove the sea, he created a way. That said, our faith remains strong in knowing that the same God that has gotten us through the past six years is the same God that will get us through the next six and beyond; not necessarily removing the cancer completely, but by making a way for Rose to keep fighting and prolong subsequent surgeries!

Thank you for loving Rose so strongly and for any help you can give her through this fundraiser.

We also appreciate your help sharing this fundraiser in any way you can.

Thank You,

The Prieto Family
