Support Ryla's Fight Against Wilms Tumor

Hi! My name is Ryla, and I’m almost three years old. I have two awesome sisters (and another one on the way!). I love dancing to music, coloring, and organizing my toys. I even started dance class this year but must take a little break until I feel better. I also love playing outside on my swingset with my sisters and cousins, and I’m always trying to make everyone laugh because my family says I’m funny!

Right now, I need some extra help. I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 3 Wilms Tumor, a type of kidney cancer that has spread beyond my kidney to nearby areas. In my case, it has spread to a lymph node close to the tumor. I’ve already had one surgery to remove a tumor and one of my kidneys. My doctors say I have a favorable diagnosis, which means that my cancer is easier to treat. Even though I’m strong, I have a long road ahead with chemotherapy and radiation, and that’s why my family needs some support.

Here’s what’s ahead for me: This month I will be starting chemotherapy and radiation to treat the cancer. The chemotherapy will take six months, and I will also need six radiation treatments. These treatments are a bit tricky because I’ll need to be put under anesthesia to keep me perfectly still—something that’s not easy for a wiggle-y, dance-loving two-year-old like me! (Just ask my family about my dancing skills )

However, all of this treatment comes at a cost. My family is doing everything they can to stay strong for me and my two sisters. But they’re both having to take time off work to care for me and deal with the stress of it all. On top of that, we know this is hard for my sisters and for all the family. We are so thankful for the love and support from our extended family, but any extra help would mean the world.
