️️Hello Team Duckie!

I've been getting a lot of comments & messages regarding three very important things in the search for Duckie and want to take this time to address those. Before I start, I want to make it clear that NO ONE is in trouble. My #1 priority is bringing Duckie home safe, however that is achieved.

❗️Question #1:

If people donated through Duckie's GoFundMe, could the reward for Duckie's safe return be raised to $2,000?

Answer #1:

If people are willing to donate money to go towards increasing Duckie's reward from $1,000 to $2,000 for her safe return through her GoFundMe, that would be amazing snd it warms my heart so many kind and generous people would be willing to contribute to that.

❗️Question #2:

Will I be hiring a private investigator to help with Duckie's search and help find the man who reportedly found Duckie the day she went missing?

Answer #2:

I did find a very reputable private investigator who is a retired Maine State Police Detective (I confirmed her work history and credentials directly from the Maine State Police) and have her on the back-burner as I was waiting to see what Portland PD and Trader Joes could come up with first, but I haven't heard back from Portland PD and although Trader Joes is doing everything they can on their end, which I'm super grateful for, it might not be enough since they don't have any security camera footage anymore from their store camera according to their corporate office and we are still waiting to see if the building landlord has any footage and on any useful information they are able to gather from their employees that were working on 7/6 from 4-6pm.

The private investigator costs $75/hour and requires an initial $500 deposit. Once that $500 is used up, then further payments are made as needed. Some of Duckie's followers have offered to donate money to go toward hiring a private investigator and if people want to contribute to that cost, that would be amazing.

❗️Question #3:

How can people help spread the word about Duckie and find the man who was allegedly sighted with her?

Answer #3:

I have reached out to all the local news stations and have not heard back from them but if you, the public, start reaching out to the news stations via social media and through their online website forms, requesting that they cover Duckie’s story, they might decide to do a segment on her after all if they see the demand for it. If people can also print out flyers and hang them up in their local neighborhoods in Portland and the surrounding towns, that would be super helpful too. Any other flyer-like advertisement strategies are also welcome!

I will also be opening up volunteer positions for Duckie’s cause as this has become so big (& I’m so grateful for all the support) but I can’t always do everything on my own as fast as I would like to and could really use the help. I will be making a second post regarding volunteers tomorrow so stay tuned.

‼️PLEASE NOTE:

When you go to donate money on Duckie’s GoFundMe to go towards the reward increase or the private investigator, make sure to write a note on the donation or send me a message with your name and how much you donated and that your donation is for (i.e. the "Reward Increase" or “Private Investigator”) so I can make sure your donation stays reserved for strictly what you intended. If you are impartial to how your donation gets used to help Duckie’s search efforts, just donate normally and no need to write a message.

I cannot say thank you enough to all of Duckie’s followers who have demonstrated so much dedication, kindness and generosity everyday since she first went missing. I am still investigating every possibility that comes my way regarding Duckie’s whereabouts and still have cages set up for her in Ogunquit, Wells and North Berwick, Maine, thanks to some kind Maine residents.

Everyday that goes by where Duckie isn’t home safe with me and the rest of her family (feathered & human) is another day of me being without a piece of my heart. The day Duckie went missing will haunt me for the rest of my life and I will never stop looking for her and am so grateful for the people and businesses on and off of Facebook that share the same sentiment.

No matter what happens, I am still committed to having something good come out of this tragedy, and am working on a few things but am happy to report that I have successfully helped several lost parrots and provided, at the very least, some advice and support to people in similar heartbreaking situations. I hope, wish and pray everyday for Duckie to come home safe and sound to me but at least I can help some other people and animals along the way.

I created this GoFundMe for Duckie's cause from the recommendations of some of Duckie's followers. I made a promise to myself & Duckie when this started that no matter the outcome (although I hope & pray everyday it’s one that ends with Duckie home safe with me), something positive would come of the tragedy of Duckie going missing.

Imagine if there was something in the form of a microchip for all animals (or maybe a leg band option for birds in addition to the microchip) that had actual GPS features? Something easily accessible to most or all economic groups, veterinarians, animal rescue organizations, etc. Imagine if there was an organization funded & dedicated to finding lost exotic animals like Duckie, not just dogs and cats (as all animals are important)?

That is the future that I want to work toward to help lost pets like Duckie return home safe regardless of the circumstances of how they went missing.

The overall purpose of this GoFundMe would be to help fund additional costs associated to trying to locate and rescue Duckie (like hiring search & rescue trail cam/humane trap companies), look into possible solutions to help easier track down future lost parrots and other animals, help create solutions to allow parrots more freedom in captivity without risk of becoming lost and also creating a fund/organization dedicated to helping people with lost/missing domestic & exotic animals (like parrots) like me and Duckie in the future. Whether this would be created as a separate organization or donated (with proof ether way) to an existing animal rescue organization that deals with exotics is TBD.

Printing flyers, constantly driving to and from MA to ME, looking to hire a Trail Cam company to assist in the search, etc is definitely costly for someone who is heavily involved with rescued animals (specifically other rescue parrots in general). Duckie does have her own veterinary medical insurance and an $800 REWARD I'm funding myself for her safe return.

Any donation is appreciated and is in no way required. Just simply sharing Duckie's posts is more than I could ever ask for. Thank you for all of your endless love and support for Duckie.
