Support Salem's Leg Amputation and Fresh Start

Salem is currently in a loving foster home with Orange County Animal Rescue Coalition (OCARC) while she waits for her surgery date to arrive. All funds raised will go directly toward Salem's medical care and rehabilitation. Here is her story!

Salem, who is about 10 weeks old, was brought to our PetSmart location by a kind mother and daughter who found her and didn't want to take her to the local shelter. A caring employee took Salem in until our organization could get an appointment with our veterinarian and secure a foster home. Initially we could only tell that she had an injury to her front right leg/paw.

After an exam and xray, our veterinarian is recommending amputation at the shoulder. He said Salem was likely pulling away from something, or someone, to the point of dislocation of her leg. She no longer has any feeling in the leg and her growth plate has been damaged to the point her leg will never grow more than what it is now. The estimate for surgery and aftercare is $2,200 to $2,500 (with our rescue discount).

The good news is that Salem is not in any pain. She is playful, affectionate, and full of energy. She will make a fantastic addition to a family once she is rehabilitated and ready to find a forever home!
