Support Sam Nisner's fight with Type 1 Diabetes

This GoFundMe supports my brother-in-law Sam Nisner and his family with medical bills associated with Sam’s lifelong battle in fighting Type 1 Diabetes.

Sam is 55 yrs old, he is a loving devoted husband, father of six, grandfather, and friend. He has touched so many lives in so many ways. He is a selfless person who is always willing to help those in need. Your support and donations will tremendously help Sam and his family during his time of need.

Sam was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the early age of five. This disease continues to attack his health, body, and organs. Sam went into kidney failure in 2012 and was forced on dialysis, he was then put on a waiting list to receive a kidney transplant. His wife Danielle asked to be tested, she was a match, and so my sister donated a kidney to save his life.

In 2013, Sam needed and became eligible to receive a pancreatic transplant. This transplant would cure him of his Type 1 Diabetes, but the disease left a long-lasting effect on his health. Shortly afterward, in 2017, blockage was found in two main arteries of his heart, stents were placed to remove the blockages. My sister was told that his type of blockage is what they call the “Widow Maker,” Sam escaped a massive heart attack. Three weeks ago, Sam began to have chest pain, shortness of breath and no energy. His cardiologist once again ordered a heart catheter, his stents are blocked along with two other main arteries. Sam will now need a quadruple bypass. Surgery is scheduled for March 18, 2022. Due to Sam’s health history, he has been denied life insurance.

Throughout everything Sam has been through, he still found the strength to support his family and give back to his community by volunteering as a coach coaching youth baseball.
