On January 24, 2025, Sam Tramontana, Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, PopPop, and Friend, was diagnosed with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer.
On January 17th, Sam noticed a large lump on his neck while shaving. That afternoon, he went to the doctor where they performed an ultrasound right away. He was told there was a lemon-size mass on his thyroid and was sent home with suggested follow-up appointments. A few days later, he became more uncomfortable prompting an ER visit. He was admitted due to concern that the tumor was pushing on his windpipe. After a few more days and a lot of tests, doctors delivered the unfathomable: an extremely rare, aggressive, and inoperable form of cancer with just days or weeks to live.
Sam was given the option to do nothing (hospice) or to have a trach and feeding tube put in and to try some chemotherapy and radiation in an effort to give him some more days. He chose the latter to spend as much time as possible with his family. He chose to fight. He spent 2.5 weeks in the hospital and is now home recovering from surgery. He will have outpatient radiation daily and chemo once a week. Sam is currently unable to speak or eat, but we're hopeful for that to change.
As you may imagine, such a diagnosis takes a toll on one's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It has hit Sam and his family very hard. Life as he and we knew it, just 3 weeks ago, is now drastically different.
If you feel led, your support will be used to help with medical expenses, in-home healthcare services, and anything needed to lighten Sam and Jen's load in the coming days.
We know the prognosis is grim, and we're asking God for a miracle. Please join us in praying for and loving on this special man!
