Friends, my name is Michal Brooke Otts, and I’m based in Dallas, Texas, USA. Mohamed Abu Samra and his wife Israa, are my close friends, and are family to me. I’m working alongside the family to raise funds for their daily needs and evacuation. These funds serve a specific purpose and together with the Samras, we aim to be transparent about each step of the fundraising process. We aim to raise $30,000; border crossing fees are $5000 per adult and $2500 per child. This is their lifeline. The remaining funds secure housing, food, supplies, and medical care while in Gaza and also upon arrival after evacuation. Hello, my friends I am Mohamad Abu Samra. My only wish was to live safely with my daughter, Julia, and wife, Israa. On the 6th of 2023, I received the most wonderful news: my wife was pregnant. We were planning together how we would bring our child everything he wanted; even though I was working for a local company and did not receive a large salary, my dreams for this life were much bigger than that. All I was thinking about was how I would give everything I had to my precious family. Our happiness did not last long, as when my wife reached the fourth month of pregnancy when the war in Gaza began

I never expected things would last this long. The attached picture shows how I celebrated my daughter Julia's birthday

I had hoped to find some happiness during these times by welcoming my child, Osama, in a peaceful setting and throwing a modest celebration to greet him. However, my joy was tempered by the problematic health conditions in hospitals and the limited medical resources available. Despite these challenges, my son Osama arrived during a particularly trying period for our community amidst the bombings.

We’ve been displaced multiple times, ending up in complicated situations each time. My wife Israa has been unwell since giving birth with Hepatitis C and urgently needs medical care. Our son Osama has also been sick due to the poor conditions and lack of available clean water and food.

This war has taken away my job, home, and everything I had saved for years to secure my children’s future. All I wish for now is that my family and I can evacuate and strive to find a safe and stable life for us away from this situation. You are my only hope now; no matter how much you donate, it will represent an opportunity for us to live securely. Please stand for me and my family.
