Support San Jose Robotics Team 581!

We are Team 581 Blazing Bulldogs, a high school robotics team from San Jose High School in downtown San Jose, CA. San Jose High School is a Title I School, where the majority of students are considered underrepresented and underserved in STEM. To remove some common barriers to participation in STEM programs, our team does not charge fees for students to participate on our team or to travel to competitions. In the 2023 season, Team 581 ranked 22nd out of 3,294 teams WORLDWIDE.

We believe every student should have the opportunity to experience success in STEM regardless of their socioeconomic status. Funding is critical to our mission of providing low cost STEM education and career opportunities to the students of SJHS, and we need your support. We are raising $6,000 to cover the cost of registration for two of our 2024 Regional Competitions ($3000 each). As of 3/3/24 we are also raising $5,750 to cover the cost of the Championship Registration Fee. Please consider supporting our team. Thank you!

We are a successful team of 35 high school students who build competitive, 150lb robots from scratch to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). We have received recognition for our technical efforts and breakout success in the 2023 season, breaking several long-standing team records.

In the 2023 season, Team 581 ranked 22nd out of 3,294 teams worldwide based on robot performance. At the Silicon Valley Regional in April 2023, our team received the Industrial Design Award, which honors the team that best exhibits critical industrial design principles, displaying a mixture of functionality, creativity, and ingenuity. This was the first award our team has won in its 23 year history. One 581 student was selected to receive the Silicon Valley Regional Dean’s List Finalist Award, recognizing their contributions to our team and outstanding leadership abilities.

On October 6-8 2023, we attended Calgames in Woodside, California, where we competed against 40 teams from the Bay Area. Throughout this 3-day-long competition, Team 581 ranked 1st overall, remained undefeated in all 15 matches, and won the competition. This was the first competition our team has won since 2006.
