I NEED YOUR HELP!
PLEASE SUPPORT SANTAS LITTLE HELPERS AT CONTE WEST HILLS IN NEW HAVEN CT!
As a teacher, I have unfortunately learned first-hand of the profound physical, emotional and psychological effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on my students, our parents and the community at large. From the stressors related to economic uncertainty, housing and food instability to the shift from in-person schooling to a complete virtual learning platform, our students have been lacked the traditional school setting and interpersonal experiences and have been laden with unprecedented emotional and psychological stressors and trauma. Although I don’t have the power to bring my students back to school tomorrow, I would like to provide them with tractions they have been accustomed to before this pandemic and bring a sense of normalcy back to their lives. I am one of the Physical Education Teachers at a very large urban PreK-8 school with over 675 students and I truly want to get gifts for ALL OF MY STUDENTS! With the holidays coming up and because of the crazy year the pandemic has created, we have had a lot of our students and families that have lost their jobs, homes and have no monetary resources to provide even a small gift to give their child this holiday season. We have a school population with over 75 % of our population qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Under normal circumstances, we would come together in our building to provide the students we serve with the celebration, gifts and holiday joy that every child so rightfully deserves. With that said – WE ARE SO IN NEED OF YOUR HELP!!
I would never ask for money from anyone but this isn’t for me this is truly for my students. EVERY KID DESERVES A GIFT ESPECIALLY THE ONES I HAVE GOTTEN TO KNOW AND LOVE! I hear each day of a child whose parent has lost their job, must move in with friends or is just thankful for a warm meal we have arranged to get them through these challenging times. My heart breaks with the stories they share and as much as I want to help them all, my resources have become limited. Please support us in this crisis with the holidays only being weeks away! My motto is to have my students learn, laugh, and love every day and with the winter holidays coming up, less and less have been smiling knowing that their Santa Clause is on a very tight budget. It saddens me to say this, but I need to be real and want ALL OF MY STUDENTS TO GET AT LEAST ONE GIFT! Please don’t just look at this and say, “Poor souls, I wish I could help but don’t know how”. You have the heart and generosity to make a difference in the life of a child and a small gift or donation can brighten a child’s day through the holidays and beyond.
It is not funny when I ask my students what they want for the Holidays and they respond with “Heat.” Anyone can say they’re going to help, but for those who actually will and can, please donate. A gift as little as five dollars can make the difference for a child this holiday season.
I am asking for your help this holiday season and would like to collect all donations, purchase, wrap and deliver gifts prior to December 18, 2020.
Any help will be truly appreciated, and I thank and bless you for taking the time to read my request.
May you have a blessed holiday season and best wishes for a wonderful new year.
Feel free to visit our school website at www.contewesthills.net to check out some pictures of our wonderful students and all we’re about.
