Support Sarah's Family Through Crisis
Donation protected
Sarah’s husband is a carpenter. In early May, as he was subbing for a contractor on a worksite, he fell from an improperly secured scaffolding.
Sarah’s husband was hospitalized with several grave injuries. Recovery will be long and require several surgeries. Sarah had to take leave from her job to care for him.
The fall is catastrophic in itself, but the hardship has been compounded by other events and complications. Their only vehicle, which is also their work truck, broke down. Sarah’s work has not provided her with family medical leave due to an administrative mistake from the hospital. The hospital has also underestimated the recovery time, so it looks like it will be early September before Sarah’s husband can be back at work. The defective scaffolding was not his, and New York state’s laws could let him sue for workers compensation, but as he was subbing, this adds a layer of complications.
Neither Sarah nor her husband have made any income since early May. The family’s emergency fund is now exhausted and bills are starting to pile up. The most urgent one is a deficit in their health insurance premiums to the order of $4,675. This will trigger the cancellation of their policy on 6/30 - which in the current circumstances is disastrous.
If you know Sarah, you know she’s always advocating for the most vulnerable, and often sharing the needs and the ways to band together to help individuals in urgent situations. It’s time we band together for her. For those of you who are believers, let us help a sister in Christ.
