Support Sarah's Mom in Her Critical Time
Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Sarah, and I'm making this for my wonderful mother. Two months ago, she was admitted into BMH with a heart valve problem. Her valve was leaking out into other parts of her body. Even though we did not believe she was ready to be sent home and even with her appealing the decision to send her home (which she won actually), after two more days in the hospital, they discharged her. Fast forward to now, two nights ago, I had to call an ambulance because she was just completely out of it. She said the year was 1952. She didn't know who our president was, none of that. Once she got to UT, she seemed to get significantly worse. Her blood pressure was 80/40. (I forgot to mention last Monday her heart doctor from UT called to let us know that both of her carotid arteries were completely clogged 100%.) After a lot of blood tests, they found she was in liver failure and kidney failure. The next morning, it was confirmed she had a small stroke and that she has had pneumonia this entire time, and it was never found. So it was left untreated, which is what has caused all of this infection and thus what has caused the liver and kidney failure. They made the decision to put her on a ventilator, and she is now totally unconscious. She did squeeze my sister's hand twice tonight.
Last Monday, she was served with an eviction notice. Two months ago, whenever this all started, her job at KARM decided to let her go, literally after missing one day, which she had a doctor's note for, but it didn't matter. They still fired her. So with that being said, her only income has been her SSI check, which is only $700. Her rent is $900, and she is now two months behind. Good Neighbors only agreed to pay $200 of it, and they don't pay that until we come up with the other $1400. I'm in the middle of trying to get her unemployment approved, but as of right now, they denied it because they think she "quit" her job for some reason. I must have done something wrong, so I did appeal that decision.
Regardless if my mom were to pull out of this, which God I can only pray and pray some more, I can't let her lose her home. She loves her little apartment, and it will devastate her if she loses it. Of course, we can cover some of it, but I know we can't come up with the entire $1800. Not while paying electricity and all the other bills we have as well. I've already had my phone disconnected and am only using Wi-Fi, cut off Netflix, and extra things like that to try and help.
Either way this were to go, her coming home, or the worse of the two, her passing. There is no life insurance or any money for any arrangements... so I am asking for donations, anything you are able to help with will help us in this time. Every $1 matters during a time like this. So the donations will be used either for the back rent so she can stay in her home, or they will be used for her arrangements.
My family and I truly appreciate anything you are able to donate to us right now, and just know one day it will be paid forward. And you just don't know how much it means to us right now. My mom's a great woman. She's given people places to lay their heads many times, fed hundreds of people, and done things for others whenever she didn't have it. I truly owe her my life, and I'd trade places with her any day of the week if I could. From the bottom of these two heartbroken daughters, thank you...
