My name is Mary Rozada and this Go Fund Me Campaign has been on my heart to do for years. Now is the time that it is so crucially needed so with a very humble and grateful heart I am sending this out asking those who feel moved to share financially with my dear friends Nancy and Scott Zimmerman.
SUMMARY:
14 years ago, Nancy and Scott were blessed with a very special daughter, Sarah Jane Zimmerman. She was born 4 months premature at 24 weeks, weighing 1.2 pounds. With God’s grace and amazing doctors, Sarah survived. But as a result of being born so early, she was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Their journey to serve and care for Sarah over the past 14 years has been nothing but selfless and inspiring.
Sarah is a beautiful soul with a joy and a zeal for life that is contagious. Although her sister and family try to make her life as normal and joyful as possible, basic tasks are very difficult since her disabilities are very limiting. Despite not being able to move on her own, her family provides her with lots of opportunities to visit friends, go to the beach, attend church events, participate in special need therapies and show off her ukulele skills at the Upper Chesapeake Ukulele Club.
Here’s the PROBLEM:
Currently, each activity outside the house requires Sarah’s Parents to lift Sarah in AND out of their current minivan. That means to take Sarah to Mass, Sarah has to be lifted in and out of her chair 4 times. Her heavy wheelchair needs to be lifted and stowed in the back of the van. Sarah is now a teenager so this lift is very cumbersome and jolting. Watching her being put in and out of the car like a doll without any ability to help in the transfer, I am always in awe of her trust and her parents’ tender touch. Although this method worked when Sarah was smaller, transferring her in this way is becoming a safety risk to both Sarah and her parents.
Here’s the BIG NEED:
My goal is to raise $7000 to put towards the Zimmerman’s purchase of a wheelchair-accessible van. They are presently searching for the right fit for Sarah’s needs. A wheelchair accessible van will allow Sarah to enter and exit the van and remain in her wheelchair while traveling, ensuring her safety and independence.
I thank each of you for considering a donation to this worthy cause. Your support will make a significant difference in Sarah’s life, enabling her to travel safely and experience more of what she enjoys. Funds will be sent directly to Nancy and Scott Zimmerman to help fund this costly van. Thank you and feel free to share this Go Fund Me link.
