Support Sarai's Journey to Independence
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My name is Veronica and I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money to help purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for my daughter who has cerebral palsy. Sarai has been in a wheelchair since she was 2 years old. Until now, I have been lifting Sarai into and out of her car seat and then lifting her wheelchair in and out of the back of the minivan myself. As Sarai is getting older and heavier, it is getting more difficult to lift her and her chair. Your generous donations would help the strain of getting Sarai to school, doctor’s appointments, and most importantly, therapy.
When I became a NICU nurse 18 years ago, I never imagined that I would one day find myself on the opposite side of the isolette as mother to a micropreemie warrior. For those who don't know Sarai... In 2017 Sarai was born four months early, weighing just over 2 pounds with bleeds in her brain. Doctors didn't think she would survive, and if she did, she would never walk, talk, or do anything on her own. After 87 days in the NICU she began proving them wrong, although she is left with many life-long challenges. Sarai is non-verbal, developmentally delayed, autistic, epileptic, and has cerebral palsy. Sarai now attends a special education program and therapy four days a week and is working hard to become as independent as possible. She is learning to communicate with a device, feed herself, dress herself, and become more mobile. But these milestones come with challenges, and she needs to get to all of these - Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, aquatic therapy, doctor's visits, and school - to continue her progress.
I am doing everything in my power to help my daughter be the best and most independent she can be. Having a wheelchair-accessible van will make that feasible by allowing me to easily and comfortably transport Sarai to all the places that help her to grow and thrive, giving her a chance at the independence she deserves. Please find it in your hearts to support us by donating to this fund. If you are unable to donate, just sharing this could be life-changing for Sarai.
I want to thank everyone that has supported and prayed for Sarai over the last seven years of her life. Having the love and support of all of you has given me the strength to fight for my Sarai and everything she needs.
