Support Sara's Critical Spinal Surgery Fund

My name is Timothy Eloe, and I'm reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea for my daughter, Sara.

Sara is a 33-year-old single mother of two wonderful children, aged 11 and 8. She's been incredibly brave and strong these past 11 years raising children by herself.

She's been even stronger for the past three years, as she has been battling a degenerative and herniated disc in her lower back due to a fall down a concrete stairway which is causing her immense pain and suffering.

Over the past eight months, her condition has worsened to the point where she is effectively bedridden, unable to work, and struggling to care for her children.

Despite numerous attempts, Sara has been repeatedly denied the surgery she needs by Medicaid, and we have exhausted our savings trying to support her and her children during this incredibly difficult time.

Her doctor, a highly qualified spine surgeon, has stated unequivocally that she is an excellent candidate for the surgery and has written a letter of medical necessity. He has even personally spoken with Medicaid, but their response remains the same: denial due to "insufficient evidence of success."

This decision is based on outdated guidelines from the American Pain Society, which dissolved in 2019 amidst controversy over their opioid prescribing recommendations. In contrast, there are over 20 years of evidence supporting the success of disc replacement surgery. A simple web search reveals thousands of articles, reviews, and comparisons from doctors, hospitals, and even state governments that attest to the procedure's efficacy.

Sara cannot continue to live in this excruciating pain for another 3, 6, or 9 months. Her children need their mother back, and she deserves to regain her quality of life. We are turning to the generosity of friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers to pray for her, and if possible, raise the funds necessary for Sara's surgery.

The funds we're trying to raise will be used for the following:

Hospital and Surgical Fees: $ 19,631.62

Professional Fees: $ 3,168.02

Assisting: $ 1,584.01

Rounding: $ 465.00

$5,850 for 3 months of living expenses so she can recover after surgery (Sara's 'bottom line living expenses' are $1,950 per month)
