Support Sara's Urgent Medical Journey
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, since Monica’s update from only a few days ago, things have taken quite a turn. A few hours after her post, Sara was transferred to Mercy ER and thankfully, was admitted. The rapid neurological decline was finally noticed by her medical team and not just her loved ones. After extensive testing, a lot was ruled out, but there were still no real answers, and it was determined that her level of care needed was much higher. A transfer request to UCSF was put in, and we were told those transfers can take up to two weeks, but within a few hours, she was accepted and arrived here a little after midnight two nights ago. It was scary to have so many unknowns, but when the two-week timeline turned into a few hours, their urgency made the reality even scarier.
An updated UCSF MRI and lumbar puncture procedure, along with her most recent labs, will be used to confirm a diagnosis, but right now they’re in the process of ruling out anything and everything prior to the return of that test from Cleveland Clinic.
During an already extremely difficult time, I’m hopeful we can band together and help ease some of the financial burden.
At this time, due to Sara’s neurological changes, she has to have someone present at all times. The medical bills alone will be one thing, but adding the loss of wages, travel, etc., will make everything exponentially worse.
In an effort of full transparency, the non-financial support this family has is really, really great. There are so many creative people who are putting their brains together and coming up with anything they can think of to help (e.g., applying for paid family leave), so if the amount requested seems lower than will be necessary, it’s because nobody wants to ask for more than is absolutely necessary. ❤️ Anything at all is helpful, but a share and a prayer would be so very appreciated.
