Support Sasha's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
In early August of 2023 Sasha felt a painful lump in her right breast. She reached out to her gynecologist and asked for a referral for diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. During that imaging, a 2cm mass concerning for cancer was found and biopsied. The biopsy results reveal invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast that is hormone receptor negative and HER2 receptor positive. Sasha has been undergoing lots of imaging and blood tests to determine the exact stage and rule out metastasis but at this point it looks like it is only in her breast and maybe her lymph nodes. Due to the type of cancer it is with HER2 positivity, the course of treatment includes targeted gene therapy and chemotherapy, followed by a double mastectomy, followed by an additional course of targeted and chemotherapy. She will be undergoing treatment for approximately 9-12 months. We are hoping treatment will start in the next few weeks.
Due to the extent of treatment, she will not be able to work during this time. As many of you know, she was working per diem in Sacramento and building her homebirth practice, which she will not be able to continue until treatment is over. This places a huge financial burden on her family. The money earned from the gofundme page will supplement her income with her disability, pay for mounting medical bills, complement therapies including acupuncture and supplements, and ease the stress of financial burden for her and the family.
As we all know, Sasha is open about EVERYTHING and her breast cancer diagnosis is no different. We plan to keep you all updated on the highs, lows and cancer humor (that’s already happening) through this page. She wants you all to know she feels loved and is so grateful for the incredible community that has and will continue to surround her, Jess, and the boys.
Let's come together to show our love, encouragement, and financial support during this challenging time. If compelled, please donate what you can and share this campaign with your friends, and of course anyone who knows and loves Sasha. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful difference in Sasha’s life and allow her the ability to focus on the battle and treatment that lies ahead.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of Sasha's journey towards treatment and recovery. She will not be in this alone and your support means the world to her!
