Support Savana & Martin for Leyla’s hospital stay
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joanne and I am fundraising for Savana and Martin.
Savana, Martin, Kian and Kayden welcomed baby Leyla into their lives on 2/9/2021. On 4th October at just 4 weeks old, she was taken by ambulance to North Manchester General hospital and they were told she had bronchiolitis. The next day, she was diagnosed with a heart condition, so was then transferred to Manchester Royal Infirmary. When Leyla was intubated, her little heart stopped and they were told that Leyla would be lucky to make it through the next 24 hours, she was the poorliest baby in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. This was devastating news and it has turned their world upside down. Savana and Martin have understandably not wanted to leave Leyla, so have stayed at the hospital since she was admitted, this has hit the family hard financially, as their stay is indefinite. We have all felt so helpless and felt a way that we can show our support, is to help them relieve the financial stress. Savana’s mum has had to move into the family home to look after Kian and Kayden.
Having got through the 24 hours, Leyla was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy and had over 50 tests to diagnose what type and so had a long wait for the results. On the 11th October they were told that her heart hadn’t improved and Doctor’s are unsure if it will recover enough to function on it's own. The doctors are trying to get a drug used elsewhere in the world, approved for use in the UK to try and improve her heart function.
On the 15th October, they received the news that the drug has been approved and the infusion will start overnight. There is still a long way to go yet, but they are one step closer to their baby girl being well!
After the first night of medication, her heart function has slightly improved.
I will keep the page updated when I have more news.
Any donation is greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance xx
