Scott's Medical Fund: Your Support Matters

This Go Fund Me will benefit my good friend Scott Seitzberg (aka Scott Berg). He was recently hospitalized with pneumonia that resulted in intubation and a drug induced coma for nearly two weeks. Once he was out of the ICU we talked about the financial impact this bout of illness will have on him.

As most of you know, Scott is a general handyman, theatrical set designer and builder, actor, playwright, director and OPP annual New Play Festival co-chair. He is also a volunteer with the Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank. Few people I know work as hard or as long as Scott.

You may not know, as a self-employed individual, he has United Health Medicare Advantage health insurance through the American Care Act (ACA). Still, his deductible is high. His out-of-pocket costs for a hospital stay of nearly a month created a financial burden for him. We have all heard and understand that only in America are medical expenses the major cause of bankruptcy filings.

The good news is Scott has recovered from pneumonia and is getting stronger every day. He should be able to get back to work soon. But in the meanwhile, he could use some help from his friends. It is sad that in America people are forced to use crowd funding efforts to pay their medical bills.

I’m sure you know that any small donation will help. If a thousand people each gave five bucks one would collect five thousand dollars. With that, I’ll let you consider what Scott has done for you in the past and contemplate what you can do for Scott.
