Help Support Scott’s Recovery After Alligator Bite

On Tuesday, April 8th, Scott was severely injured in a terrible alligator incident while performing his duties as a licensed Florida State trapper. While releasing a 9.8-foot alligator he trapped and was relocating, the animal suddenly turned and grabbed Scott’s arm, dragging him down a hill and nearly into the water.

By a miracle, Scott's 14-year-old son was with him at the time and acted with incredible bravery. He quickly applied a tourniquet, ultimately saving his father's life before emergency responders airlifted Scott to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Since then, Scott has undergone multiple surgeries as doctors work tirelessly to clean the injury and determine if — and how — they can save his arm. Scott’s wife, Erika, has been staying close to the hospital, which is two hours from their home, splitting time between hotels and traveling back and forth with their children. This unexpected crisis has taken a tremendous emotional and financial toll on their family.

Scott is a dedicated public servant - a First Sergeant in the Army National Guard, a City of Lakeland employee, and a proud cattle farmer. Right now, both he and Erika are unable to work, and their farm still needs to be cared for.

We are raising funds to help cover everyday expenses, travel and lodging costs, farm care, and the mounting medical bills ahead. Any donation, no matter how small, will help ease this burden and allow the family to focus on what matters most: Scott’s healing and recovery.
