Support Scouts BSA Troop 56's Flood Relief Effort
Donation protected
In the wake of the recent Hurricanes and their major impact on the communities in their paths, Scouts BSA Troop 56 wants to help. We have decided to assemble "Flood Buckets". Each 5-gallon bucket will contain $75 of essential supplies needed by families to clean their homes after disasters, including cleaning products, gloves, dust masks, dish soap, and laundry detergent.
Our goal is to create 25 buckets, with an estimated cost of $1,875.00.
3 of our Scouts and 2 of our leaders attended the 2023 Jamboree and participated in the Flood Bucket service project. Below is a video from that event.
We have contacted UMCOR, United Methodist Committee On Relief, and will deliver these buckets to their warehouse in Mechanicsburg, PA once completed. The buckets we assemble today will replenish the buckets that are currently being distributed in the Hurricane areas. https://missioncentral.org/disaster-response/
Our Troop is made up of young men ranging in ages from 11-17. Although we do not have jobs to donate money ourselves or the ability to travel to the affected areas, we can donate our time and skills locally in Pennsylvania in a way that will benefit those affected by Hurricanes and the resulting flood damage to their homes.
As part of our commitment to service, we are launching a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for “flood buckets”. We believe that even small contributions can lead to a powerful change, and we invite our friends, family, local community, and people from across the world to join us in this effort.
By taking part in this effort, we aim to bring out the importance of teamwork, respect, and community. Each donation will not only help us fill these “flood buckets” but will also demonstrate compassion and solidarity. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most, showing that through unity and action, we can help rebuild lives and restore hope in the face of adversity.
