Support Seán Collins in His Time of Need

Hello friends and community:

My name is Annie Fitzgerald I’m reaching out on behalf of our dear friend, Seán Collins, who finds himself in the midst of a significant financial crisis.

For the past fourteen years, I've been exceedingly fortunate to call Seán my close friend and neighbor. He is an incredibly intelligent, quietly generous, and deeply thoughtful human being; he's also a maddeningly humble person who would ordinarily vehemently balk at the idea of asking for help in such a public way. Seán has always been there for me, no matter what challenges I'm facing. This may sound trite but it’s true: he is the first to offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or a helping hand, even when he himself is going through tough times.

Seán now finds himself in dire circumstances. He has recently endured a number of profound losses: the death of his brother, the loss of his job, the death of a friend of nearly fifty years from whom he’d become estranged, the death of another longtime friend, and the sudden illness and decision to euthanize his beloved dog Gibson. All of this since January. These losses have not only taken a severe emotional toll, but have also placed an added financial burden on him.

The end of his longtime job as a contractor, coupled with the fact that he had spent down savings while helping to care for his brother during the last two years of his life has meant that Seán no longer can afford health insurance for himself, which is particularly concerning given his significant health issues. He is now facing a crisis that he cannot overcome alone.

I am reaching out to you today to humbly ask for your support of Seán during this challenging time. Your contribution, no matter the amount, can make a world of difference in helping him regain his footing as he continues conversations about new work. By coming together as a community, we can show him that he is not alone and that there are people who care deeply about him and his well-being.
