Saraha Nyingma Buddhist Institute, in the Dudjom Lineage, is a sacred sanctuary for practitioners in Eugene, Oregon. As one of the practitioners, I am leading the fundraising campaign for Michael and Shoman to repair and protect the building that has been vandalized several times since 2019. The pandemic forced the closure of our thriving school and regular practices. Since the closure, the building and surrounding forested grounds have become a magnet for people who come in the night and damage the building and surroundings.
One started a fire right next to the building. On two separate occasions, a window has been broken, with the persons entering the building and moving things around or breaking them. Several have camped in the parking lot and forest, damaged the building and surrounding areas, and needed police intervention to remove. And more.
We need to humbly ask for financial assistance to repair the most recent breakage, as you can see from the photos, a rock was recently thrown through the glass door, damaging the window, floor, and tearing out a bank of lights in the classroom below. We have also decided to finally install a security system. We have a qualified contractor to do the repairs and installation at a reduced rate, but the costs are mounting. Can you help? KEZI, our local news station, ran the following stories yesterday and helped us generate many donations! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared the story. We are going to increase our goal with the intention of making some very necessary building repairs such as the roof, decking, windows, etc. We are stunned by the generosity of our community and appreciate the interconnectedness of all.
