Support Señorita Philips' Spanish Ice Cream Project
Donation protected
¡Hola! My name is Missy, but my students call me Señorita Philips. I am a Spanish teacher at a public elementary school in Philadelphia, PA. I teach 17 different classes ranging from K-8th grade. That's almost 400 students! And I do it all from this cart! While not having a classroom has it's challenges, bringing joy and a love of language learning isn't one of them!
In class this year, my incredible students have honed their linguistic skills, including building confidence speaking Spanish with one another! I would like to finish this year with the most motivating thing I can think of: ice cream. Each of my students will be creating their own ice cream shop including naming their shop, designing a menu, and decorating bowls and spoons for their customers! In their final "presentation" they will host and visit each other's ice cream shops and have a conversation in which they order and pay for the ice cream all in Spanish!
This project will be a bit costly, which is why I'm asking my network of friends and family to help bring language, joy, and most importantly: ice cream, to my classes!
Here is how I will spend your generous donations:
Bowls
Spoons
Napkins
Colored permanent markers
Ice Cream
If ice cream costs less than anticipated/if I raise more than requested, that money will go toward:
Toppings! (syrup, sprinkles, etc.)
Laminating sheets (so kids can keep their menus forever!)
Next year's final project (TBD, but I promise your funds will go directly to my classes)
Thank you in advance for your incredible generosity. Know that your donation will help put a smile on a child's face and create a lifelong memory - and perhaps even a lifelong love of Spanish!
