Support SFC Mike Lewis while on deployment
Donation protected
I am writing on behalf of Army soldier SFC Mike Lewis. Mike has 17 years in the Army, having served as an Army Ranger on numerous deployments in support of the Global War on Terror. His unit is currently deployed to the middle east on special assignment as Advisors.
Two nights ago, faulty wiring in an HVAC unit caused a fire in his room, leading to significant damage (smoke, fire, water) to all of his belongings. The base where his unit is residing is operated by the host nation and he is not able to claim any expenses or receive reimbursement from the Army. Due to the nature of Advisor work, these elite soldiers wear plain clothes or suits a majority of the time. Their mission requires them to operate in the embassies and meet with foreign dignitaries. Although it is required apparel to meet mission, suits/formal/athleisure are not something the Army issues its soldiers, which, makes replacing them on deployment very difficult and expensive.
Mike is a great friend, father and husband. As with any fire, Mike's loses include all of the non-issued things he brought for the deployment: personal clothing, suits, personal laptop, USB cables, power adapters, socks, blankets, undergarments, etc. Any support would be greatly appreciated!
