Softground Wrestling is a wrestling company from a small village in Mukono, Uganda that has recently caught the eyes and the hearts of the wrestling world. The wrestlers are orphans, the ring is comprised of bamboo and rope, with the bare earth as the canvas. Despite the conditions in which it exists the passion and spirit of professional wrestling is well and truly alive.
I know that everything I've achieved so far is because people saw my passion for wrestling and gave me hope, resources and knowledge so that I could grow. I see that same passion here so I recently travelled to visit to find out first hand what it's all about, who these kids are and give what I can in time, money and knowledge.
I bought 1 month of food and supplies for the village, helped train them and shared whatever I could to inspire and motivate them.
I the short time I was there, I saw the water and power cut out multiple times, I saw a kid laying in the shade to "sleep off" his malaria...
At the very least helping these kids, keeps them happy and safe and it may also lead to positively changing these kids lives forever.
With the right resources, knowledge and opportunities I believe we can see an orphan in a village in Uganda go on to become a World Champion - changes like that not only positively effect the individuals involved but inspire millions in all walks of life.
The cost of living in Uganda is so much lower that whatever money you give can have such a great impact overall - nothing is too little. With money raised we can help:
- buy the land they train on
- better facilities
- food
- medicine
- knee pads
- first aid
- water
