Hi, my name is Michelle Armstrong. In 2018, I lost one son to gun violence, Latrell Brown. Unfortunately, on February 28, 2025, I received a call that is any mother’s worst nightmare. I was told that my son, Shahid Burke, was gone. He had been shot after attending a nightclub, and after getting to the hospital, due to the extent of his injuries, he died. My son had joined the military and was on a mission to change his life and his family and friends that he could help. He became a father, a leader, and much more. His wishes were if something was to happen to him, he wanted to go in the mausoleum next to his brother. While the military will cover all other expenses, to reopen the wall where my other son is so they can be in there together costs $1400 and that expense is left on us. So I’m asking all family, friends, and loved ones for help. Any amount will be appreciated. I’m saddened to even have to tell this story, for it feels like history repeating. God bless you all, and thanks for taking the time to read my story.
