Support Shakawe Students: Fund Book Transport
Donation protected
Hello! I am working as an English Teacher in Shakawe, Botswana for the next 9 months. Shakawe is a beautiful rural village in the north-western region of Botswana, Africa, and I have had the privilege of meeting and teaching alongside wonderful teachers and students at the Shakawe Senior School. The school boards hundreds of students who come from neighboring villages to receive an education to prepare them for university, and they continually show an eagerness to learn and study English (Botswana's official language).
While the school is extremely large and beautiful, it is lacking many necessary basic resources due to a lack of finances. These include school supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, ink, boards, quality furniture, and books! I have organized a book drive in WJCC (Williamsburg James City County) to collect book donations for the Senior School. While this is a crucial element in providing students with more inspiration to learn and study, it will be difficult and pricey to transport those collected books from America to Botswana.
Due to this problem, I have decided to set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the transportation costs of the books. I am trying to set up relations with educational nonprofits who could help fund me; however, I have had little luck. If you have the means, I would greatly appreciate any donation to help cut the costs! Any leftover money after the transportation costs raised through this GoFundMe will be used to purchase school supplies and furniture in Botswana to fill the beautiful library. Thank you so much, and I appreciate anything you are able to give!
