Support Shakayla and Teens After Job Loss

I Shakayla Dixon , (As of yesterday ) Manager of Burgerking in Clinton Ms , received a phone call yesterday from my District leader , Area Manager on a 3 way call , stating they didn’t want to turn something good into something bad , but they had concerns .

The concerns were me having my son working for me , me paying the boys the required pay (the same as every new hire gets paid) and the amount of hours worked weekly .

These boys along with myself and upper management were sooo excited to shine the light on the youth , the company , and our community , but now, where do we go from here.

As of yesterday July 9 , 2024 , we are all in disbelief that after all we have done , all the people we have talked to, all the interviews we have went on , all the food we have made , had come to and end .

How will we now buy school clothes ?

Will we quickly get another job ?

How will i Pay mortgage , Car insurance and take car of my day to day Expenses ?

Were do we go from here ?

Was it even good idea to even hire the youth for the summer ?

Was it a good idea to tell my mom yes i want to work for her ?

How do i explain to the boys that what we thought was good , really turned into something bad , and now we are all jobless because of it .

When the article first took off and went viral , one of the team members at the store informed the district leader about it , since then , the company as a whole has been ingaged with setting up interviews , sending new gear so we all will represent the company in new clothing , has even showed up to the Mayors office with us to get recognized , now everybody is saying it goes against policy . I have plenty photos , text messages and emails , that i will attach below to signify the company new before hand.

Since it went viral and was a good look for the company , everybody overlooked policy , now since somebody have to cover there own behind , policy comes into play .

Management stated in an interview that she told me to reach to the youth and hire the youth , that’s what i did .

Management , Marketing ,The Alderman, The journalist all asked how did the story began , and it was the same for each one that asked .

“ valentine , the son of BurGerking manager , hired her SON , and he put his friends on as well “

If it’s policy , policy is being broken all over the district, i feel like i was targeted .

It was never presented before hand that it was a problem with me hiring my son .

This is totally not what myself nor the teenage boys expected to happen , We have shined a whole different type of light now it is dimmed .

How do we suppose to feel about this ?

We need your help in encouraging myself and the boys that it will get better .

We need monetary donations , school supplies , school clothes , Bill donations and anything else that will help us get through this unexplainable Moment , Thank each of you in advance .
