Shaker’s Last Hope - Help Shaker Evacuate Gaza!

Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Shaker Albuhaisi, a 22-year-old caught in the heart of a conflict that has turned my world upside down. I was on the verge of completing my degree in Medical Laboratory Science, but the war shattered those dreams.

With three years of experience as a video editor, I was steadily building a career until the violence erased everything I had worked for.

Before October 7th, my life was full of hope—filled with studies, a budding career, friends, memories, and plans for the future. But now, everything that made up my life has been destroyed.

With the situation growing more desperate every day, I find myself in a place I never thought I’d be—asking for help.

Ten months ago, when this war began, no one anticipated it would drag on this long, and only God knows when it will end.
My life has been on hold since October 7th, and this is my last chance to try and salvage what’s left. The Rafah crossing, our only exit to Egypt and the world, has been closed for over four months.

There’s hope it may reopen soon, but the cost to leave—$5,000 per adult—remains a huge barrier. I refuse to let this be the reason I perish here. I will do whatever it takes to raise this amount and save myself.

The impact of this war has reached every corner, affecting even our universities and educational institutions.

After nearly six months of complete disconnection from social media and work, I gathered a few friends in a tent with a temporary internet connection. Unfortunately, this connection was short-lived.

Our situation grows more dire with each passing day. There is no safe place for us here; we've narrowly escaped death in our own home more than five times already. Our neighbors, just 25 meters (80 feet) away, were obliterated by a 4-ton bomb, wiping out over 33 lives. Every day we live on borrowed time, waiting for the next strike.

We haven’t had electricity or clean water since October 7th, making life here a constant struggle. Our meals come from poor-quality canned food provided by international aid, which lacks the essential nutrients we desperately need. Cooking has become a luxury—without cooking gas, it takes over 20 minutes to light a wood fire in the middle of the night, to prepare a simple cup of coffee.

Deir al-Balah, the city in which we live, is the last city untouched by ground military operations. But with military operations in Rafah nearing completion, it’s only a matter of weeks before we, too, are forced to flee.

I will use the money I’ll raise to:

  • Evacuate from Gaza and resume my study in a safer place: 10,000 USD / 13,600 CAD
  • Support my family’s basic needs: 10,000 USD / 13,600 CAD
  • Transactional fees: 3,000 USD / 4,000 CAD

Approximate Grand Total: 23,000 USD / 31,000 CAD

The weight of this war has pressed down on us in unimaginable ways, stripping away our safety, our livelihoods, and our hope for a secure future. As we stand on the brink of displacement with our home and city under imminent threat, the fear of losing everything is a constant shadow over our lives.

Every dollar you contribute is a step toward safety for me, and a chance to escape the relentless danger and start anew in a place where I can begin to rebuild what was lost.

This campaign is my LAST hope, a plea for compassion and humanity in the face of overwhelming adversity. Your support will help me survive and give me a chance to live with dignity and hope for the future.

With gratitude and hope,
Shaker Albuhaisi
