UPDATED-
Hello friends and extended family, I am Cyana Shantel's daughter. I come to you with a heavy, concerned but forever faithful heart. My mother has been dealing with a rare and extremely debilitating illness for the last 2 years. I spoke with my ever so beautiful Nana (Suzette Hytche) today and she implored me to provide a brief summary of the physical ailments my mother continues to endure. To be honest, I initially did not feel it was my place to detail my mothers medical condition, but as you are our final recourse, I have decided to share her medical struggle in greater detail.
As you are aware, we are God's most beautiful creation inhabited by a conglomerate of tiny living organisms which are controlled by our immune system to ensure a healthy range of organisms grow.
In my mothers case, this debilitating immune system disorder has caused an infestation of microorganisms with no defense mechanism, basically these microorganisms are consuming her. To make matters worse the rarity of this condition has not prompted the medical society to perform studies to identify symptoms, effects, treatment plans, mortality possibilities, or just provide doctors with an awareness of this issue. With limited resources my family became my mother's only advocate; my Nana has researched the little information available and literally identified the countless treatments, medications, procedures, etc. and provided them to the doctors (she did what they wouldn't); however her health continually declines by the minute. We feel completely helpless, there has to be a cure she NEEDS relief.
To date my mothers frail body has been impacted, she suffers mini strokes (TIA) win a consistent occurrence (she was just in the hospital a few days ago), kidney disorder, brain lesions causing frequent and debilitating migraines that last up to 3 days, obvious mental decline comparable to the first stage of dementia, heart enlargement, severe depression, vision loss, bone weakening, calcium deficiency, leg swelling causing inability to walk, frequent nausea causing weight loss, overall she is in consistent pain without any cure in sight, but trust…her faith is deep and my mother soldiers on.
My mother absolutely loves to smile, laugh and just enjoy time with loved ones, well because of her condition she has not been able to be amongst family and friends in two years and counting, this means no holidays, birthdays, Sunday dinners, church, NOTHING!. She agonizes over her inability to see my grand parents (Nana and Papa)., they are not getting any younger so she fears the worst. Since there is such limited knowledge of this disorder she does not want to put her parents in the line of fire, so she she has opted to stay out of their presence to ensure their immune system is not compromised.
Although we (her children are here) she basically isolates herself the constant pain keeps her bedridden most days. It is utter torture to see her in this condition. My siblings and I cannot articulate the fear and anxiety we are faced with every day; we often find ourselves affectionately bonding over nostalgic events, one of which led us to coining my mother with a befitting nickname/alter ego "Superwoman"!! I want her back!
Although she has many superpowers, one currently resonates within my spirit: "resilience." Yes, few are aware that this soft-spoken, sweet, goofy and effortlessly beautiful lady has unfortunately undergone countless dark and senseless battles which were obviously orchestrated by the enemy to break her down, but know my mother's faith is unbreakable... she (we) will not be defeated!!
In closing, with humility, I ask for any donation which will be used to support my mother's finances. Unfortunately, my mother's state disability has run out and federal disability will not be available for approximately a year; she has also depleted all her savings (401K included) therefore, she has no income whatsoever.
Many of the required medical treatments and medications are not covered by insurance, therefore the bills are outrageous. Certain specialists will not see my mother without payment. This concerns me the most.
Sadly, she is losing her home (our home) and everything she has worked tirelessly to attain. (This is the first time since she was 15 years old that she has been unemployed). I do hate to ask, please know we have no alternative. I realize times are hard and the majority of you are supporting your own families but know anything helps.
I would also ask that you please lift my mother up in prayer. If it is in the Lord's will, please ask that He return her to her healthy state and show us her beautiful smile.
Thank you for taking time to read this post, you are a true blessing!
Please share this post in goodwill. Remember, most homeless people were one paycheck away from being on the street.
FYI...my mother donates to pretty much anyone who asks. I used to get angry with her; I felt those people were taking advantage of her kindness. She once said to me, "If they ask, I give. God continues to bless me so I can bless others."
And her favorite line is, "Hey, I may have just entertained an angel."
Again I ask please include my mother in your prayers, and although her eyesight is failing, I know she would love to hear a post from you if and when time permits!
Thank you for reading... God bless you and yours!!!!!
