Support Sharline and Michael in their time of need
Donation protected
Hi! We're asking you to help our dear friend Sharline and her amazing family in their time of need. On Saturday, June 8, Sharline, Michael, and their daughter escaped a dangerous house fire as their Durham home went down in flames. Thank God they are okay, but the shock and loss is just unthinkable. After all was said and done the top floor was completed damaged by fire and the bottom floor by water. They will be displaced for at least a year. The Red Cross has put them up in a hotel for now, but that support will come to an end. And fortunately they do have insurance, which will eventually help them recover some of their losses, but there are bureaucratic hurdles to get through to access those funds and rebuild their life. And goodness they lost everything... shoes, clothes, school supplies, a lifetime of keepsakes. You can donate here or send cash directly to them: https://linktr.ee/sharrosegold
Their main priority at the moment is to give their daughter a sense of normalcy amidst the instability and transition. As they think ahead to the months to come, they want the resources to send their daughter to afterschool programs and camps, so she has an enriching experience for the next year instead of being dragged around or bored in a corner while her parents triage the tedious mayhem of rebuilding their lives and their home. So that is the main ask that we have - support for their daughter. And unfortunately, this is something insurance won't cover.
And if you're not able to donate, there are so many other ways you can help - please do send them words of encouragement and support, help them settle in once they find a temporary home (groceries, meals, basic essentials, etc), if your kids are friends with their daughter then invite her over for a playdate, etc. Thanks for pitching in in whatever way makes the most sense for you.
You are amazing. They deeply appreciate it all.
