Support Shaymaa's Family's New Start in Egypt

Hi, I'm Brooke Deal, friend of Shaymaa Kullab of Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip. I am setting this fundraiser up with the help of my best friend and colleague, Holly Hillgardner. Shaymaa was the Bethany College visiting teacher-scholar in Arabic language and culture from 2020 (online, COVID) to 2022. As a Gazan, Shaymaa has lived through multiple wars--a reality that we Americans have no familiarity with. She returned to Gaza in 2022 with the hopes of continuing her education in the US. She hopes to pursue a Masters degree in the US soon.

But October 7th changed everything for Shaymaa's family: they lost their beloved father, home, jobs...everything. She was able to get out of Gaza into Egypt with her family, yet have no source of income, no permanent home, and of course, no certainty about their future. This fundraiser seeks to help her family get established in Egypt, which includes her mother, sister, brother in law, niece, nephew, and newborn nephew (by c-section in a tent). Your donation goes directly to her family to help establish a life away from their beloved Gaza. You all are aware of the atrocities that continue to be committed there as well as to those displaced with no idea about how to rebuild their lives, let alone their homes, schools, stores, futures.
